Kid Stuff

Not feeling quite as positive this morning

Something to do with my lovely daughter waking me up at 5:45am for the past two mornings, I’m sure.

Yesterday was our first full day without a sippy cup. I went out yesterday morning and bought some of those *BIG KID* sport sipsters, where they have a straw and a flip top. I made a really big deal out of it. When we got home we told the sippy cups good-bye and tossed them in the trash and I put some iced tea in her new *BIG KID* cup, She did well until nap time. My solution was to tell her that the cup had to go nighty-nite too and made her put it away in the refrigerator. Then we tipped toed away and upstairs. As I put her down for her nap, she started crying and I said “SHHHHhhhh, the cup is sleeping.” Much to my surprise it worked for naptime and bedtime. That wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Let’s hope potty training will be as smooth as this transition. Hey, I can dream anyways.

I got to talk to my Nana yesterday. She called me to check in on Pickle. We talked about the kids and the trials of taking children in as your own. She’s got a lot of good advice on the subject. Then I got to share a new recipe with her and she sounded excited to try it out. See, my Nana makes the world’s greatest sausage gravy and biscuits. MMMMmmmmm  ((drooling)) Nothing compares. Back in February my mother in law made this spread which consists of sausage, hamburger and Velveeta all being mixed together and then putting spoonfuls of it on small wedges of garlic bread. It is called “polish mistakes” for some reason. It is the closest thing to Nana’s sausage gravy I’ve ever had. REALLY CLOSE! Now I use it to get my fix. Nana thought it was so funny when I told her about it. It was great to talk to her.

Well, I think I’m gonna read my chapter for the day and then head off for a nap with Jedi & Baby Girl. My Mom is spending the afternoon with Pickle. They’ve been playing video games together recently. My Mom is such a dork, she has no idea what she’s doing and she cracks up laughing at herself. I’ve also got the late shift T-Ball practice tonight.

((((Yawn))))

  1. You eat Polish Mistakes!  That’s what those things with sausage, hamburger, and velveeta are called.  Or at least what we’ve called them my whole life.  God, those things rock…
I like that the cup took a nap.  It is a good way to get her to understand.  She’s sleeping, her cup needs to sleep too.  I like that.
